Philip Wiggins Head Coach
Coach Philip Wiggins joins the Plano Senior High Swimming and Diving team after spending six years at Austin College as the head swimming and diving coach. While at AC his teams consistently earned Academic All-American Honors and finished in the top 20 in Divison III with Team GPA, with the women earning top ten honors nine semesters in a row. He also had swimmers earn all conference honors and had 15 school records broken during his tenure. Coach Wiggins also coached for five years at Delta State University.
During his time at DSU the men's and women's teams won six conference championships and sent swimmers to nationals each year while earning numerous All-Conference and All-American honors. Coach Wiggins also has coached USS swim teams with many state champions and state record holders. Coach Wiggins swam at Delta State University where he was team captain for two years and also held team and conference records. At DSU he earned his bachelor degree and a Master's of Education degree.
"My philosophy is that better athletes make better swimmers. You must work hard to be in shape and physically fit in order to reach your maximum potential. Swimmers must also be good students, working hard in the pool doesn't help if you don't work hard in the classroom as well." Coach Wiggins and his wife, Tiffany, have two children, Jacob and Sophie
Brandon Nelms Assistant Coach
Coach Brandon Nelms was born in El Paso, Texas on January 3, 1985. He is an Alum of PSHS, graduating in 2003. After graduation, he attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In May 2008, Coach Nelms graduated from UNLV with a Bachelor of Arts, Secondary Education. While at UNLV, Coach Nelms was on the Dean's Honor List during the Fall 2004, Fall 2006, Spring, 2007, Fall 2007 and Spring 2008. Coach Nelms was also a three-time Academic All-American. Coach Nelms holds the following swimming honors:
- 2008 Olympic Trial qualifier in 50 Freestyle
- Three-time Mountain West Conference Record Holder
- Four-time NCAA Division 1 Athletic All-American
- UNLV Swimming & Diving Freshman of the Year 2004
- UNLV Swimming & Diving Team Captain 2005-2006
- UNLV Swimming & Diving Team Captain 2006-2007
- UNLV Swimming & Diving Most Inspirational 2004-2005 & 2006-2007
- National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week 2007
- 2002-2003 Plano Senior High School former record holder in 50 Freestyle
Bob Solow Diving Coach
Diving Coach Bob Solow brings 38 years of coaching experience to the Plano Wildcats. He has coached college, high school, USA Age Group, and Masters. He has won honors as an ASCA State Coach of the Year and is a recipient of the prestigious Phillips 66 Service Award. Bob graduated from Colorado State University in 1971 with a B.S. in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. He later completed a Masters Degree in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academ
